Why did I ever move to this infernal hellpit?

For your information: I am not leaving my office until the temperature drops below 40º C. I have enough overripe apricots to last me til morning, and if last night is anything to go by, Harlot Heights has turned into a 49 square metre slow-bake oven.

Still here. I think they turned the air conditioning off at about 6 o'clock in an attempt to drive me home. Thank goodness they haven't done anything to the water chiller.

Anyone want to migrate to Canadia with me?

I'm home. My eyeballs are forming a dessicated carapace. I'm tempted to say rude words.

As for all the trees that appear to still be alive, trees, you are an example to us all.

They are, aren't they? Spent last night listening to a Canadian, the thought did cross my mind that it might be okay there.
THough I think the winters are like our summers, only the other way around.

Are you wearing wet clothes at home? that used to help a little in the DAYtime when my kids were small. No good if you need to sleep though, though a passageway is good, or on the floor. Good luck!

I tried a wet sheet last night. It was dry in half an hour. Spent the night with the fan pointed at my torso. Bleugh, this is horrible. Northerly wind today. It feels like standing in front of an open fanforced oven.

I lived in Canadia, briefly. After one Toronto winter I moved to Siddenee, purely in order to thaw out. Never going back. You can't make me. No!

(I see you are not a Melburnian, yet. A Melburnian would never admit that the place is less than perfect, especially in comparison with, you know, that town up north with the harbour and the Opera House).

A small spray bottle from the $2 shoppe keeps one (relatively) sane.

And is good at night, in combination with fan.

Melbourne and I were getting along swimmingly. Until this week. Now I renounce her and all her ways.

Spray bottle is SUCH a good idea. Thanks, Boynt.

SPRAY BOTTLE! THAT'S IT!

I was stuck on one of the trams yesterday evening for about an hour (ludicrously slow, they can't take heat). By the time I got home the trains were running again, and the gates closed just before I was going to cross.

The train honked at me as it went past. In my jaded frame of mind, it sounded like a profanity, so I replied, tersely, in kind.

I too use the old $2 spray bottle but I have a couple of them and I keep them in the fridge, even the dog is enjoying being sprayed in the face by the delicious chilly water.
