I've always understood a "think tank" as something similar to a "fish tank" - with Gerard Henderson paddling about, losing his memory every thirty seconds - but it's just occurred to me that the "tank" bit might be as in
"armoured combat vehicle blindly trundling across the tundra".

I am convinced that Gerard Henderson works in the paper shop down the road from where I work. Seriously, the guy who works behind the counter there is a direct replica of Henderson. Maybe he has replicants in every state?

How about think tank as oxymoron, just like military intelligence?
