Me. Just in case you were wondering.

Further to this morning's namedropping efforts, here's a photograph of a photograph of Germaine Greer avec moi. (Thanks, esp., to Wool Spaniel, who did the original honours a couple of years ago).

In preparation for the above, thunk I, "Now here's a lark! Photos of photos of me being a shameless poser in my misspent youth. Jolly good!" And so:

Me in a dinner suit playing bongo drums on the inner west trainline from Redfern. This was back in the days before commuters had access to the terrorism hotline.

Impersonating a chesspiece.

First stage in the twenty year plan to steal all my mum's scarves.

Wilbur the Wonderdog. Proof that the scarf trend has caught on.

That's very thoughtful of you, as I couldn't make out the faces in the bookshelf photo. You do seem a little respectfully over-awed in the presence.

I didn't know you were interested in public exhibitionism! This is almost as charming as your harp and bagpipe playing. In another life, when I wasn't so shy, I firmly believe that I was a public exhibitionist as well.

Oh, and beautiful dog!

This belongs to the last post but sox is sox,

Adrian is lovely even if he does wear budgie smugglers.

Thanks for the sock link, Jahteh. I've never quite managed to reconcile fancy mail-order American socks with my protestant stinginess ethic, but those there socks look beguiling enough that I might just break with tradition. Fuschia and red indeed!

Karen, I was entirely over-awed in the Presence. I stood there in my silly hat smirking my head off and blessing my knee-high socks. As for public exhibitionism, yes, 'fraid it's one of my many foibles. Shy is nice. At any rate, better to be shy than a complete social steam-roller, which is what I am sometimes.

Adrian, dunno exactly what you mean by "i", but, read onomatopoeically, it sounds like an expression either of sympathy, discomfiture or jubilation.

Love the photos, and am Dr.Greer's greatest admirer BUT I must say at that nano-second she did look like Stephen Fry.

Sometimes we shy folk like to be steam-rollered! It's much easier to get into a conversation with someone who is just the opposite, as far as these things go.

Stephen Fry? He's a bit of a honey too, in an Edwardian overstuffed armchair sort of way. I'd like to get trapped in an elevator with him and Germaine and a lot of knee high socks sometime

We're approaching football season in Melbourne, which pretty much means that the colour of socks you wear will be very much an item of interest!

I don't know much about the rules myself, but I know this much - you probably don't want to wear striped black and white socks in a tram full of Essendon supporters, or anywhere, for that matter.

Football, eh? One of life's eternal mysteries. I think some research is in order. I wouldn't want my calves to come over all Collingwood.
